My Screenplay Empty
PostSubject: My Screenplay   My Screenplay EmptyTue Jan 05, 2010 7:28 pm

Narrator (Jaret): The day I found out that the world didn’t need me was the best day of my life. It’s like-like that dude Atlas, the guy who holds up the sky-it’s like going up to him and saying, “We don’t need you anymore, you can let go”. Well I let go, and it made me realize that even though the world may not need me, my life matters to me, and I should live it, however short it might be.

Scene 1
(Bar in Boston. Jaret and Laura are sitting across from each other at a table.)

Laura: Heh, Jaret you still got that same attitude after 20 years?

Jaret: Lo, you gonna help me or not?

Laura: Honey, the only thing you need help with is asking for the help that you’re not gonna get anyway.

Jaret: Lo, it’s those sorts of statements that make me wonder who the hell raised you.

Laura: Like I always say, it’s not about what happens in the beginning. It’s about the result in the end.

Jaret: So you’re saying I just let ‘em take it, and then wait see what happens?

Laura: I said it’s the end result that matters. I never said you have to be passive. Do what you can do to get your apartment Jaret, and if you fail, then you wait and see what happens.

Jaret: You’re paying, cause otherwise I don’t have enough to give to Otis.

Laura (thinks she says to quietly for Jaret to hear): I’d like to see Otis at least once before you make me penniless.

Jaret: I need TP for my bunghole.

(Laura looks at Jaret with a confused look)

Jaret: You never seen Beavis and Butthead?

Laura: Never seen the movie

Jaret: Well that’s Beavis’s line.

Laura: Butthead is the smart one

Scene 2
(On Boylston Street)

(Jaret is walking alone with people occasionally coming up to him)

Young Tough Looking Man: See you tomorrow night, (swear).

Tough Looking Middle Aged Man: You still doing the concert at House of Blues on Sunday?

Jaret: God if I could retire.

(Jaret stops at a bus stop)

Jaret: Sup Otis?

Otis: Nothing much. I’m still trying to find a freakin dog.

Jaret: Why is it so hard for you man?

Otis: They don’t like me. I go up to em and they run away.

Jaret: All right, well, in terms of grub all I could get you was a couple cans of beans.

Otis: No fruit?

Jaret: Nah, but I remembered water this time.

Otis: Oh goodie.

(Jaret hands Otis three bottles of water and two cans of beans)

Jaret: How’s 20 bucks?

Otis: Better than yesterday

(Jaret hands Otis the money)

Jaret: Did ya ever have a job?

Otis: No, but I’ve considered aqua (swear).

Jaret: Fish don’t need that Otis.

Otis: Well I don’t call your beat-boxing singing rapping thing whatever it is an amazing talent.

Jaret: I don’t try to be talented Otis; I just try not to get shot when I’m on stage.

Scene 3
(Outside Jaret’s apartment)

(Jaret is walking up the steps and he sees a letter on his front door)

Jaret: (Swear), what the (swear) is this?

Jaret: Dear Mr. Werth

Two months have now passed, and we are obligated to evict you immediately. We will give you 48 hours to leave the premises. If you are not out by then, the reposition men will come and you will be forced to leave. Legal action cannot effect your situation at this point. You have failed to pay your rent for months at a time. This is your final notice. Once again, please be out of your apartment in 48 hours.

Signed,
Agnus Co.

Jaret: They can (swear) (swear)

(Jaret throws the letter on the ground and opens the door)
(There is a tough looking man with a gun inside)

MWG: Get on the ground right now!

Jaret: Okay, okay, be cool.

(Jaret gets down on his knees with is hands behind his head)

MWG: What’s your name (swear)?

Jaret: My name?

MWG: Tell me (swear)!

Jaret: You playin games with me?

MWG: What the (swear) you talkin about?

Jaret: Your fly is down

(Man With Gun looks down and Jaret tackles him and takes his gun)

Jaret: Now tell me who you are and why you’re here.

MWG: Hehehehe

(A gunshot is heard, and Jaret slowly falls)
(Camera angle is turned, and a sniper is seen on the balcony across the street)

Scene 4
(At the bus stop where Otis lives)

Otis: You didn’t kill him, did you?

MWG: Jim shot him in the head.

Otis: (swear).

MWG: Man he was gonna kill me. He took my gun

Otis: I don’t care; I would rather have you dead than him.

Jim: Hey, there was nothing we could do, it’s not like we want to die.

Otis: He was the closest thing I had to a friend you (swear)

MWG: You saying you wanna physically stop him from performing, but he’s your friend

Otis: Hey, he’s got money and a house-at least for a little bit more, and I’m not risking armed robbery with him there

Jim: Oh, you’re so noble

Otis: I actually have a chance to get some money

MWG: It’s the House of Blues, you’re not gonna get rich. Why rob there, why not a bank.

Otis: Because I was born in the bathroom there

MWG: Really?

Otis: No (swear), because no one would expect anyone to rob the House of Blues

Jim: So you’re gonna rob there instead of a bank because more people rob a bank?

Otis: No (swear) Sherlock

MWG: Otis, we did what you asked-

Otis: No you didn’t!

MWG: Anyway, what you do is what you do now. We out of this

Otis: Then get out of here

(Otis lies down on the bench and it fades away to Jaret in an ambulance)

Narrator (Jaret): I had never been in an ambulance before, but truthfully, I wasn’t really thinking about that. In fact, since I had just been shot in the head, I couldn’t really think about anything. The things that were wavering between the edge of my mind and completely disappearing, were that I was wondering who shot me and why, and that I wasn’t dead. I had been shot straight in the back of the head, and I was alive. Later, when I found out why I was shot, it took me a while to forgive the guy who was responsible, but I managed it, because this was the occurrence that made me realize that the world didn’t need me, so forgiveness was one of the few things I could do that actually involved someone else. This all really makes it sound like the world not needing me is a mixed blessing, but at least there’s one person who I can still talk to and confide in. This person has been my friend since I was a kid. This person was my babysitter, and I was closer to her than I was to my parents. She even visited me in the hospital. Oh (swear), this is all so freaking confusing. What am I supposed to feel?

Scene 5

(Otis is walking down the street) with a gun concealed in his jacket)

(There is no talking, just the music and him walking around people)

(The duration of this takes about two minutes)

Scene 6

(In The House of Blues) (At the bar)
(Two men are talking) They are Greg and Jackson)

Greg: J- Jeff I mean what?

Jackson: My names not-not, I didn’t say anything.

Greg: You-you were suicidal?

Jackson: I just realized, Craig and Greg sound the same.

Greg: Cr-Craig you sound (swear)

Jackson: I g-got nothing to live for, so I think, I think after this I’m gonna jump

Greg: No- you should call the suicide hotline so they-they can help you kill you

Jackson: (swear), you are wasted

Greg: I mean me

Jackson: Can I vomit in you?

Greg: Is-is this talking going somewhere Greg?

Jackson: No, no I’m Greg.

Greg: Since you’re my boss, I think that you deserve a raise

Jackson: No, I’m gonna give you a decrease

Greg: Well- I hope Jane gives you a decrease

Jackson: Jane is your wife

Greg: I thought you were my life

Jackson: Do you drive a 46 Corolla?

Greg: Yes, I drive 46 Corollas

Jackson: I thought of cars because I drive one

Greg: That doesn’t justify that that topic is related to our conversation

Jackson: Well at least I’m not like Family Guy where nothing is related to anything

Greg: How did you think of killing yourself?

Jackson: Well Greg, I called the suicide hotline, and they told me my fears of having an invisible s- Siamese twin was just a Greek Myth

Greg: Bu-

(The door slams. Otis walks in and shoots the gun up twice) (there are gasps heard. The music stops)

Otis: Everybody, face on the floor. I don’t want to hurt any of you, but I will.

Jackson: Well, here’s my chance.

(Jackson starts walking towards Otis)

Otis: (swear), get down on the ground!

(Jackson keeps walking)

Otis: I will shoot you

Jackson: Do it

Otis: Get down or I will shoot you

Jackson: Shoot me

(A few seconds pass) (Otis almost falls over, and drops the gun) ( He stands with a look of distress on his face) Someone picks up the gun, and someone else calls the police) (Otis just stands there as the police cars arrive and they take him in handcuffs to the car)

So far…
